Book Description
The Newman Tales share the adventures of Newman, a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, rescued from the meat industry in Taiwan and saved from euthanasia at the Humane Society. His books share stories about his adventures and include lessons on how he experiences the things around him, as he lives his best life in his fur-ever home with his fur-ever mom in sunny Arizona. Despite what life has thrown his way, Newman lives with the mantra, “When things seem really bad, beautiful things still happen.”
The Newman Tales, Vol 3: Never Judge a Book, My Fur-ever Friends, as is the case with The Newman Tales series, is based on true accounts. Vol. 3 explores Newman meeting neighborhood dogs and his reaction. Initially judging, he gets to know and like them and establishes new furr-ever friendships. The book also contains puzzles and activities that use keywords and phrases found in the book. The average reading level is 6th grade (age 11). Still, parents, grandparents, and others can enjoy reading The Newman Tales to children of all ages.
Author Bio
Lynn F. Austin is an author, professor, and managing director at Austin Group Consulting. She leverages her background and experiences to guide, motivate and inspire learning, understanding, and transformation.
Newman, her first rescue dog, was tragically abused. As a domestic violence survivor herself, Lynn believes that while she may have rescued Newman, he also rescued her. Together, they learn to trust, love and believe in others. Newman was twice rescued, first from the Taiwan meat industry and then again when his adopted family surrendered him to the humane society, where he was slated to be euthanized.
The no-kill rescue agency, 2DaRescue, picked him up, cared for him, and worked with him for a year. With all that he has been through, and despite occasional nightmares and night tremors, you would not know that he was abused to the extent that he was. Newman is now living his best life.
